Ketton Bowls Club

Ketton Sports and Community Centre, Pit Lane, Ketton, PE9 1SZ

Stamford & District Bowls League Ketton

Ketton Bowls Club celebrates its 51st anniversary season in 2025 having completed a successful half century in 2024 since its establishment in 1974.

The highlight was an anniversary gala in which all the teams it competes against in leagues and friendlies were invited and at which the club’s first chairman Tony Brooks (90) presented the awards. It also received a plaque to commemorate its achievement from the Stamford & District Bowls League.

As well as fielding a newly-promoted team in the first division of the Stamford League on Mondays and Fridays, Ketton will be represented in the Over 55 and Weekend Peterborough Leagues on Tuesdays and Saturdays respectively. Additionally up to 18 friendly matches are to be played on Wednesday afternoons, to encourage potential new bowlers to participate. Coffee morning, spring sale and registration at Ketton Sports & Community Centre is scheduled for March 11 (10-12 noon).

Indeed, the main focus will be recruiting more players to take up the game when proposed Thursday and Sunday roll-up sessions offer free tuition with equipment provided.

Ketton also aims to raise funds towards bowling green maintenance and to buy a high quality, precision mower.

The club will stage at least two bowls galas (June 25 & August 27) and club President Charlie Underwood aims to boost further cash from his President’s Day, scheduled for September 8.

The club’s green continues to receive much care and refurbishment thanks to the efforts of its members and the expertise of Clearcut Ltd, while its bowlers will continue to compete in the Northants Bowling Federation, having reached no less than six finals in 2024 and won four of them.
