Ketton Bowls Club
Ketton Sports and Community Centre, Pit Lane, Ketton, PE9 1SZ
Ketton Bowls Club celebrates its 50th anniversary in the 2024 season and will be holding an Anniversary Gala on Sunday 30th June (details to follow). The club is looking forward to attracting more players from the local community to try bowls.
As well as fielding a team in each of the First and Second Divisions of the Stamford & District Bowls League – Kestrels and Kites respectively – it will be represented by Ketton Welland in the Peterborough League Over 55 League (Tuesday afternoon) and Ketton Hanson at the weekend.
The main focus again in 2023, however, will be its friendly fixtures and to recruit more players from regular Wednesday night roll-ups at which free tuition and equipment is provided. The club also aims to raise funds towards greens maintenance and equipment. Previously the club has received generous contributions from the village’s Whitebread Trust towards a replacement clubhouse which opened in 2019
The club will stage at least two bowls galas (July 6 & August 30) as well as regular social events including quizzes and bank holiday car boots in conjunction with KSCC Trustees. Club President Charlie Underwood will also boost further cash from his President’s Day scheduled for September.
Its bowlers will continue to compete in the Northants Bowling Federation, for which its club treasurer Shirley Suffling is the current women’s President, having won the national senior pairs in 2021.
